About this trek

The Tarsar Marsar trek visits a pair of stunning, almond-shaped alpine lakes near Pahalgam — Tarsar and Marsar — cradled by green meadows and snow ridges at around 4,000 m. It is gentler than the Great Lakes but every bit as beautiful.

Camping beside the still, colour-shifting lakes is the highlight, with the trail beginning from the lovely Aru valley. It is a wonderful moderate trek through classic Kashmiri meadow country.
