About this trek

Roopkund is one of India’s most storied treks, leading to a small glacial lake at about 4,800 m that is littered with ancient human skeletons โ€” a centuries-old mystery still debated by scientists. The route climbs through the rolling meadows of Ali and Bedni Bugyal, among the most beautiful high-alpine grasslands anywhere.

The trail rewards trekkers with close-up views of Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghunti, and a steep final push to the lake and the Junargali ridge. It is a challenging, high-altitude trek best attempted with proper acclimatisation.
