  • Kali ka Tibba at sunset is better than any of the named viewpoints.

  • Nearest airport Shimla (Jubbarhatti) is 65 km with very limited service; Chandigarh at 110 km / about 3.5 hours is the practical airport.
  • Nearest railway station Kalka (85 km) is the broad-gauge railhead. The Kalka-Shimla toy train to Shimla, then a 45 km drive, is the scenic route in.
  • Bus & road hub HRTC buses run Shimla-Chail and Solan-Chail through the day; direct Delhi services are rare, so change at Shimla or Solan.
  • Taxis & local transport Shimla-Chail taxi is roughly ₹1,500-₹2,000. A car is genuinely useful here - sights are spread across the ridge.
  • Road access & best route Delhi to Chail is about 340 km, 8-9 hours via Chandigarh and Solan. The prettier approach is via Kufri; the shorter one via Sadhupul and Kandaghat.

Things to do & travel tips

Chail has no real market beyond a small bazaar, so pick up anything you need in Solan or Shimla on the way up. The cricket ground sits inside an army school - it is open to visitors but timings change and photography can be restricted. The Kufri road ices over on winter mornings; the Sadhupul route is the safer winter approach.
